Happy Valentine's Day!
We just purchased a beautiful Winter Honeysuckle (Lonicera Fragrantissima) that has white flowers and a lovely sweet fragrance that is typical with honeysuckles. This will turn out to be a 6-8 foot tall bush, so it'll be perfect on the top of the hill behind our pond. It'll help show the arrival of spring and attract all kinds of bees with its flowers and fragrance.
Along with this, we also picked up two different grapevines. One is a Concord grape and the other is called Mars. We plan to grow these on the hill to create a barrier between us and the neighbors. We were going to create a typical wooden T to grow them on, but instead, we will use wire and those metal bird feeder shepherd's hooks. It'll be our first attempt at grapes!
We also got some Comfrey that we plan to grow out into fertilizer for our plants. I heard it's very stinky...
The grass was sown throughout the backyard in the woods and meadow in an attempt to get some more green to show up. The neighbors just removed half their trees, so it's really opened our backyard. We'll see how it all looks when Spring comes along.
Note: Crocuses are starting to pop up in our meadow! Along with the Snowdrops that we scattered by our path. Tulips are also waking up and making an appearance. Spring is on the way! Robins said so.
